Posted: Saturday 5 September 2009
Hit group Highland Heartbeat is to perform at The Braemar Gathering this Saturday 5th September, direct from singing at the Long Island Scottish Games in New York to great acclaim.
Stars from hit group Highland Heartbeat, headed by singer Fiona Kennedy, will take to the stage this Saturday to sing in front of members of the Royal Family.
The group of young singers (Ross Davidson from Aberdeen, Jillian Isbister from Shetland and Frances McCann from Glasgow) are to sing the national anthem at Braemar in addition to songs from their PBS television production which is currently being broadcast across the United States.
Fiona commented:
"It is a privilege for us to be performing at The Braemar Gathering, one of Scotland's oldest and most prestigious Games meetings. There is always a very special atmosphere there and we are delighted to be part of it. We recently performed in front of thousands of people at "The Gathering" in Edinburgh, which brought together Scots from around the world and was great fun."
Willie Meston, Secretary of the Games said:
"We are delighted to have Highland Heartbeat singing for us at Braemar this year which will complement our wide range of events during the day. Their blend of traditional and contemporary songs will, I'm sure, go down well with the crowd."
The Braemar Gathering was established in 1815 and today hosts most of the top international athletes as well as outstanding pipe bands and highland dancers. Members of the Royal Family have attended the Gathering since 1848, with five successive Monarchs continuing the tradition.
Highland Heartbeat will perform 3 songs in the main arena between 12.30-1.00pm.
They will sing the national anthem at 3.00pm.
